Healthcare Workers Demand Action to Decrease COVID-19 spread in the Charleston Area
The Issue
We, the healthcare workers of the greater Charleston area, demand action from our elected officials to curb the rapid growth of COVID-19 in our region. The lack of actionable responses from our leaders is a direct insult to those who provide healthcare to the community. You expect us to take care of you and your friends and family, but you are not taking care of us. If COVID-19 continues to spread, staff shortages, resource reallocation, and an overwhelmed healthcare infrastructure may result in diminished access to routine medical care and catastrophic outcomes for our patients. We have no choice but to continue to work, but your complacency makes our jobs harder and more dangerous by the day. Now is the time to put the health of Charleston citizens ahead of the tourism and hospitality industries. Your actions, or lack thereof, will be remembered at the ballot box.
We live here, we care for you, but now you need do your part.
