Dear Friends:

A heartfelt thanks to those of you who have given to the give! campaign this holiday season. We are now down to the last two weeks of the give! campaign (ending date is December 31st), and we are about halfway to reaching the $6,000 in matching grants donated by a group of very generous supporters. At a minimum, we want to meet the matching grant challenge -- and, better still, exceed it. So, for all of you who have not yet donated, please consider making a year-end gift to Save Cheyenne through the give! campaign. You can find Save Cheyenne under the Great Outdoors category. Online donations are preferable, but there is a downloadable form with instructions for those who want to mail in a check. Share this link: https://indygive.com/nonprofit/save-cheyenne/on your social media, and ask others to give as well!

Why give? We remain in very active dialogue with the City Council members about a Protect our Parks (POPS) ballot measure. Latest version can be read here:  https://docs.google.com/document/d/1WPZVR4h1Fs7MwPkL-C4PTXEG7AouU91yrkf3wf0UPO0/edit?usp=sharing

As is so often the case in the legislative process, the devil is in the details. Should the charter change cover "all parks" -- or just certain "legacy parks?" What are the "exceptions" that would still prevent another Strawberry Fields while allowing the city flexibility on developer-donated parkland that has not yet been put into service?

Special thanks, again, to Michael Chaussee for his excellent work crafting language to meet all of the potential objections. As a reminder, most of Colorado's major cities have park protection language dating as far back to the 1950s in some cases. Colorado Springs is well below the curve in giving the people the power to vote on trading public lands. All of these cities like Denver, Boulder, Aspen, Englewood, and Glenwood Springs to name a few cover ALL PARKS. We have been exceedingly cooperative in trying to reach an agreement which gives the people the power to vote on the trade/sale/disposal of their public lands. Now is the time for you to share your voice and email City Council asking them to refer the POPS Ballot initiative to place the power in the hands of the voters on trading/disposing of parkland in the future. Email: AllCouncil@springsgov.com and, as always, we encourage you to copy the press for transparency.

Please join us for our last POPS & HOPS at Trails End, 3103 West Colorado Avenue, TONIGHT, 12/19, from 5:30pm-8pm. Trails End offers over 40 craft beers, cider, wine and kombucha which you can self pour to sample several. Kent Obee, President of Save Cheyenne and Kathy Meinig, Board Member, will be there to answer questions about and discuss the POPS ballot initiative.

Some notes about our IndyGive sponsors: Trails End Taproom is the group sponsor for the Great Outdoors category of nonprofits and is kindly donating five percent of its profits for the months of November and December to the six nonprofits is this group. The actual share of this money that each nonprofit receives is determined by Trails End patrons who get a "vote" for each $10 they spent.

The overall IndyGive sponsor, Bristol Brewing, is donating profits from sales of its Black Lager seasonal to IndyGive nonprofits based on votes by purchasers. Just go to the Bristol Pub at Ivywild School, enjoy a Black Lager and cast your vote for Save Cheyenne.

Don't forget our matching grant sponsors Burrowing Owl for a pleasant evening out or Gallery 113 when looking for that perfect Christmas gift.

Cheers,

The Save Cheyenne Board
