CollegeAvenueIndy.org noticed an excellent October 9th post on Indy Tax Dollars that asks what happened to fiscal conservatism.
We seem to live in an era when local subsidies are believed to grow on State and Federal money trees and that such subsidies do not actually represent tax dollars collected from hard-working Americans. Kudos to Indy Tax Dollars for pointing out that we ought to question a federal allocation of $75 million to fix a local problem (Mass Transit) by a Federal government that is already $19 trillion in debt.
We further praise Indy Tax Dollars for rightly pointing out that financially and chronologically - the highest priority is being given to construction and operation of a bus route on a straight line through the center of the city (the Red Line) which will give little or no relief to the mass of current and potential riders who would like to be able to get across town, but will still be standing on a corner somewhere (Hitch hiking?).
Finally, we salute Indy Tax Dollars for pointing out that Indianapolis is disbursing millions upon millions of tax dollars in areas and for projects which are not necessary for the well being of its citizens.
