CollegeAvenueIndy.org wonders why the IndyChamber (and other local business interest groups) continue to receive such lavish press coverage for their Red Line views when the local business community has flatly rejected a corporate tax increase to subsidze the Red Line's operating cost.
As reported in a July 22nd IndyStar article, the 10% Red Line subsidy that local businesses have rejected will now be replaced with a new nonprofit foundation scheme whereby IndyGo will be required to fund 10% of the Red Line operating cost through donations to a nonprofit foundation IndyGo must register, build and maintain. Of course, if the foundation doesn't reach its fundraising goal, the deficit will be passed on to taxpayers.
