Grassy Creek Park formerly 30th and German Church park(10510 E. 30th St. Indianapolis), should be renamed to Ny'Shawn Ellis-Poole Park in honor of a young girl who was struck and killed by a drunk driver crossing the street from that park.  Ny'Shawn was struck during the early afternoon by a drunk driver who stated in court that he was a high functioning alcoholic and had been drinking in excess all day prior to hitting little Ny'Shawn with his van.  An Indianapolis Fire Fighter who was also a City-County councilor got a flashing light and a crosswalk put in at the location.  

Renaming the park in honor of her would be a great accomplishment.  And would make sure Ny'Shawn will not be forgotten.
