We the undersigned call on Mata and our business and community leaders to take action to provide more comprehensive and sustainable public transportation service for the Memphis metro area. Specifically, we call for : (1) extensions of the main st / medical center trolley tracks along the highest demand corridors with (2) intermodal connectivity to air and inter- city rail and (3) establishment of a long-term sustainable transit fund.

Why we need it:

• Attracting & Keeping Population- A large number of working professionals prefer cities with multimodal mobility systems, including the option to live free of car dependency. 
  Parking & congestion- Transit moves people safely and cost effectively. Park and ride lots serve those outside the city while decreasing congestion, air pollution and on street parking shortages.  
  Economics- Investments in light rail are transforming cities across North America and stimulating commercial and residential development. 

We call for Mata and city of Memphis leaders to:

Extend medical district transit line

• To the airport- prioritize extension of downtown transit system to Memphis international airport and along high demand corridors Overton Square, Liberty Park and Liberty Bowl stadium- This will help satisfy the travel demand on game days while improving the experience for those who choose to drive and tailgate. Stadium parking can double as park & ride lots for every day commuting year round.
