Improvement of Proper Waste Segregation

The Issue

One of the biggest causes of environmental deterioration is our garbage. Our air, water, and ground are polluted by the waste from our factories and homes. All of these issues can be simply solved with proper waste management.
Rather than throwing all kinds of stuff in the garbage and contributing to the immense heaps of garbage in landfills and increasing greenhouse gas emissions from incineration plants, waste management allows people to reduce, reuse, and recycle materials multiple times. Effective and efficient waste segregation ensures that little garbage is disposed of in landfills, which makes it less expensive and better for people and the environment. Proper waste segregation is key to environmental and public health and safety.
Waste segregation is included in law because it is much easier to recycle. Effective segregation of wastes means that less waste goes to landfill which makes it cheaper and better for people and the environment. It is also important to segregate for public health
As a community, you should make it as easy as possible to correctly segregate waste. This can include labelling, making sure you have enough accessible bins and making it clear why segregation is so important. So next time you’re presented with a choice to put your plastic bottle in a general waste bin or a plastic bin, reach over to the plastic one and pop it in there.
Sorting your waste makes it easier to understand how to reduce your general waste output, identify items that can be reused and set aside items that should be recycled. Beyond that, however, there’s also a moral imperative to be responsible for how you handle your trade waste.

Why should we do it?
1. So that it reduces waste that reaches landfills and reduces pollution to air and water
2. So that different processes- composting, recycling, incineration can be applied to different kinds of waste
Why is it important?

• Proper waste segregation means that there will be less trash that will be thrown into landfills and makes it easier for us to recycle certain wastes such as biodegradable wastes being turned into plant compost. It also decreases the risk of trash collectors' getting injured at the process of collecting and segregating unsegregated wastes.
• It also helps environments become cleaner, making it a much safer and healthier environment to live in. And with such a healthy environment, it decreases the risk of someone getting sick and decreases the potential exposure to biological hazards. It both benefits nature and humans all together.

How do we practice proper waste segregation at home?
1. Keep separate containers for dry and wet waste in the kitchen
2. Keep two bags for dry waste collection- paper and plastic , for the rest of the household waste
3. Keep plastic from the kitchen clean and dry and drop into the dry waste bin. Keep glass /plastic containers rinsed of food matter
4. Send wet waste out of the home daily. Store and send dry waste out of the home, once a week.
5. Keep a paper bag for throwing the sanitary waste

To help society progress into a much healthier environment to live in. For years and years, humanity has just continued to turn a blind eye on it. And we're not facing its negative effects in today's time. The main reason why we should improve Proper Waste Segregation is to lessen humanity's carbon footprint. Our ozone layer isn't getting any better anytime soon, and we, as the beings who have the capabilities of making a difference in it, should know how to take care of it. And with proper waste segregation, we can at least somehow make a difference towards the nature that actively tries to give us a planet that we can sustainably live on. And such things shouldn't only be done because we are dying now, but also for the fact that we may not have a future with these current habits. If we wish to have a future then we must start a change now. And as much as current waste segregation tactics have yet to show a difference, it still has flaws that could still seriously damage us anytime sooner. Which is why we should improve it consistently, until we reach a point where it is already sustainable for both us and the environment.
