This beach park has been a part of our community 50+ years, and has been used by our community on a consistent basis for birthdays, family functions, church, exercise, swimming, picnics and just to come out with your ohana to enjoy the park in fellowship after working so hard every week.
It has now become a place where the community is afraid to go. Unsanitary, scary, and not safe with all the CRIMINAL VAGRANT SQUATTERS. This refers to those who commit crimes, murder, rape prostitution, drugs. This problem has also caused environmental issues with human waste and rotting garbage found in the area, that can spread disease such as hepatitis, and staph. All of this spilling out to the baseball field where our children do activities, often them finding needles or stepping in human waste. It is all connected.
I get hundreds of comments on Facebook pages and groups, along with people in the community that feel the same. We feel that there needs to be enforcement of laws and a stronger stance for our hard working families and children. This Mayor, County, State, Police should have taken such action a long time before it got this way. When the Government officials say they don't have funding for this basic human need for our community, something is wrong. We should question where taxes are going and figure out how to fund it.
If you Love our community, Love Kona, Love your ohana, Love your children, please sign this petition to show the Government we CARE ABOUT OUR COMMUNITY.
