Denver Parks and Recreation posted a new link to CONGRESS PARK POOL on the website: www.denvergov.org/content/denvergov/en/denver-parks-and-recreation/recreation-centers-pools/swimming-pools.html
Here are key parts: "Congress Park Pool was selected to be a project on the Elevate Denver Bond list, which was approved by voters in 2017. This pool is one of the city's oldest and has grown increasingly costly to maintain, requiring extensive upgrades. The Congress Park Pool will be open during summer 2019 with construction beginning 2020.
The closure of Congress Park Pool in 2020 will result in new pool and facility to serve the community starting in 2021. Built in 1955, Congress Park Pool is one of Denver's oldest outdoor pools, and after 63 years of operation it has also become one of the city's most costly pools to maintain. In recent years, Congress Park Pool has seen multiple opening delays due to major leaks."
Thank you for your attention and willingness to communicate with the city. The published timeline indicates that the city is already 3 months behind on this project, so it is in our collective interest to continue to communicate with parks leaders and to fully participate in the community outreach efforts, planned for SPRING and SUMMER 2019. Since construction is planned for sometime in 2020, we should ensure closures are minimized and capacity at other pools is increased if possible if Congress is indeed to be closed for one summer.
We will continue to update you as new information becomes available, but CONGRATULATIONS! It seems our voices have been heard.
