To replace Brenda Barnett who is general manager for animal services

The Issue

Brenda Barrett, the cold hearted general manager for animal services at the city of is Angeles, needs to be replaced with someone who cares about our injured, homeless animals instead of punishing those who genuinely care.

WOW! JUST WOW! Foxy and the Hounds just had their New Hope rights suspended pending review of a potential violation of New Hope policy. The real reason our pull rights were suspended is because Brenda Barnette, who is the General Manager for Animal Services at the City of Los Angeles, is being vindictive and honestly, it is disgusting. Brenda is retaliating because we brought to the public’s attention these two pups in the shelter that are in dire need of medical attention. We called, emailed, and text the shelter last night and wanted to pull these dogs to give them the immediate medical care they needed. The shelter emailed me this morning that these pups were not urgent. Wait, what??? Seriously.. the dogs eyeball is completely out of the socket and laying on a blanket... How much more urgent could you possibly need???

LAAS is lucky to have Foxy and the Hounds as New Hope partners. We pull the sickest, most injured, badly abused, seniors, bonded pairs, and the dogs that are risk of euthanasia in our shelters.. How dare Brenda Barnette’s ego be bigger than the welfare of the animals in her care! She should be ashamed of herself.

We tried desperately to help this dog last night and Brenda Barnette absolutely knew as she commented “let me find out” on my post, but guess what happened.... NOTHING! Brenda has commented several times to this concerned community since I posted and her answer has been that Olly is on pain medication and antibiotics and that surgery will likely be done today or tomorrow. As you can see from the outpouring of livid comments that is just simply unacceptable! Had they just let us pull Olly on a Good Sam last night, he would have been recovering from surgery right now instead of being made to wait with his eyeball completely out of socket where infection can come and other medical issues as well. Why make any dog in our shelter system suffer unnecessarily?

Frankly at this point, we are questioning whether or not we want to be partners with an entity that does not have the health and well being of every animal in their care as a top priority. We are struggling because what we do best is help the ones that need us most. We are a voice for the voiceless and we will not be quiet any longer! I have had enough and it is just not right, and as much as I fight every day for abused, abandoned, neglected dogs on the streets... I will fight for them in our shelters too!

The saddest part is now that Brenda has suspended our New Hope rights because she is being spiteful, we are unable to even help Olly at this point, and he is the one who suffers the most!
