We have over 1,700 signatures! These signatures and especially the comments show there is grassroots support for bringing the Metro back as a film/performance/cafe fine arts space. Thank you, everyone for signing, sharing and promoting!

Samantha Pavic suggested using The High Line as a model for the Metro Campaign. The High Line is a great example of turning derelict infrastructure into something that benefits the community. One thing The High Line guys did to galvanize support for their project was to use photography effectively.

Liza Cooper and Joshua Silk have generously volunteered to do a Metro Theater related photography project. Liza works in healthcare - a writer and amateur photographer, she has documented her beautiful Upper West Side neighborhood throughout the pandemic in words and images on social media. Josh is a professional photographer who specializes in taking captivating portraits, particularly of musicians and other artists. Liza and Josh are both eager to use their talents to help save and revitalize the beautiful Metro Theater.

Craig Sumberg is researching similar sized theaters--both live performance and film. In our last Metro Theater Petition Campaign Meeting, Craig mentioned League of Historic American Theaters (LHAT)

We now have three online discussion forums:

Recently, I learned that Change.org notifies the “decision maker”--in this case, Bill de Blasio of the petition as soon as there are five signatures and after certain milestone numbers are reached. So there is a good chance Team de Blasio has the petition on their radar. However, we are planning to write to City Hall to schedule a meeting with Bill de Blasio when we have 2,021 signatures. Less than 321 signatures to go!
