For the past several years Charles City residents and baseball players have had to deal with an issue that just doesn't seem to go away.  They have a threat in the outfield and it doesn't come from anything related to the sport.  The issue at hand is within the rising water after heavy rains soak Sportsman's Park.

This is not any stranger to those in the area, in fact it was talked about in January 2014 and the Mayor said the next steps were to get recommendations from school and city staff as to what should be done next and possibly setup a planning session for future updates/work.

We don't believe the ball is rolling fast enough.  There are seniors who do not get to play home games there due to the soggy conditions in the outfield.  We believe that especially with a new school being built, the minimum should be done for these students by at least fixing the problem.  Therefore, we are petitioning the Mayor, the Superintended, the City Council, and the school board for immediate action. Further ignorance is not acceptable.
