COVID is still here and still mutating into dangerous new strains! NYC schools and public transportation are already crowded and not ventilated well. 1 million young people are in NYC schools! Young people under 12 cannot get vaccinated. Vaccines have not been mandated in NYC public schools and not everyone who are at the age to get vaccinated CAN get one due to medical issues. Many are not able to wear masks all day due to medical issues.

Last year students had a choice of remote learning and staff were able to apply for medical accommodations to work remotely! We ask for the same option this year (2021-2022) since nothing has changed in terms of COVID risks. We are still at the same risk for the spread of COVID and the same people are still dealing with medical conditions! There is also still a risk of long term COVID symptoms that can last indefinitely!

NYCDOE still has not said how they will make it safe to return! Please give a REMOTE LEARNING option to help keep everyone safe! NO one should be forced to put themselves at risk for sickness or death when schools are able to function remotely! Students can learn and staff can work remotely! This has been proven already!
