The ban against pit bull type dogs should really be looking into ALL breeds, not just pit bulls! Otherwise, this is just a hate crime against many innocent dogs who happen to look similar to others which were either untrained or provoked. Any dog can be vicious, and any dog has the capacity to injure or kill young children, including small dogs like chihuahuas. Pit bulls are actually a variety of mixed breeds, there is no such thing as a pure bred "pit bull".

I have known many bully dogs in my life, and yes they are very strong willed dogs, but none of them have ever or will ever harm someone unless they are protecting themselves or the ones they love. Also, you should take notice that a lot of dog attacks are NOT by pit bulls and are just not taken into consideration. The media does its best to showcase the bad side of the breed, not the good. Many dogs are mislabeled as "pit bull mix" and often are actually more closely related to labs or poodles. By promoting these thoughts of hatred towards bully breeds, you are advocating for the death of thousands of completely innocent dogs in shelters. You will rip families apart.

I understand that there is fear associated with these dogs, however; there is no need for this fear. Instead of condemning all pit bull dogs to die, we should be looking into more proactive ways to educate people about how their children should act around ALL dogs, ie. not tugging their ears or tails, or approaching them too fast. We should teach people to realize that some dogs, no matter the breed, require space. You never know what a dog has been through or how it may react to new or frightening situations. Animals have no moral sense of evil and would not attack someone just for the fun of it; they always have a reason. I just want my opinion to be heard, and maybe a little justice for all the innocent bullies.
