Dear supporter of the San Mateo Ice Rink, SPI Holdings LLC, the owner of the San Mateo Ice Rink at Bridgepointe, is petitioning the City to accelerate consideration of its new proposal. Normally, applicants must wait one year prior to resubmitting a denied proposal. (Remember that the City Council rejected SPI's $4 million offer in April.) SPI is now proposing $8 million in exchange for new zoning and asking that this proposal be considered in the near future. On Monday, November 7 the San Mateo City Council will consider SPI's request for accelerated consideration. Note that this meeting will focus only on SPI's request for acceleration. There will not be a vote on SPI's new proposal at this time. If the Council approves the acceleration on 11/7, they will then set a future date to fully evaluate SPI's new offer.
