Jonathan Caple has been an officer on the Lancaster City Bureau of Police force since 2005. Officer Caple has YEARS of documented abuse and MULTIPLE Protection from Abuse (PFAs) against him for over a decade of domestic violence against his former fiancé and mother to his only child. 

In 2013, he held a service revolver to his ex-fiancé’s head and threatened the “blow her brains out” in front of their daughter (for which she testified in court to have witnessed before running and hiding somewhere safe). And just recently in 2018, his aggression led him to slam the same victim to the ground and say that he "should have snapped her neck".

The Lancaster City Police Department Internal Affairs handled the investigation, which already creates skepticism about the thoroughness of their analysis. For the hearings, Judge Jeffrey A. Conrad of the Court of Common Pleas presided over this case (who is a GOP-endorsed, ex-officer of the Marines with a history of being under investigation for dishonest practices). At the trial, their daughter testified to seeing him hold the gun to her head, audio evidence was introduced of Officer Caple being extremely emotionally and physically abusive to her, the police report showed the fence and back door to the home being kicked in, AND Officer Caple HIMSELF admitted that he had anger management issues and punched holes into the walls. Ultimately, despite the evidence of his domestic violence, he ruled in Officer Caple's favor.

On June 18th, Judge Jeffrey Conrad ruled to give Officer Jonathan Caple FULL CUSTODY of their daughter and granted the mother, THE VICTIM of the abuse, 1 HOUR OF SUPERVISED VISITATION PER WEEK. This comes after she had filed a complaint about his unethical courtroom practices and he REFUSED to recuse himself from their case.

Every step along the way, justice was obstructed and she has not been able to get her fair day in court. 

He was only briefly put on desk duty following the PFAs, but he is currently an active police officer patroling the 4th sector of the City of Lancaster (which is occupied predominately by Black and Latinx residents).  

We MUST bring attention to the injustices and corruption within the Lancaster City Police Department and county court system, and how they are choosing to ignore and hide the abuse that Officer Caple has been inflicting on city residents and his family for YEARS!

This is NOT who Lancaster City residents want “protecting” us! Nobody in the community is safe when there are aggressive and violent men with police-issued weapons roaming our streets.

Let’s start holding these bad cops accountable!!

WE DEMAND THAT OFFICER JONATHAN CAPLE BE FIRED EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY AND ALL REPORTS MADE AGAINST HIM AND THE REST OF THE LANCASTER CITY POLICE OFFICERS BE MADE PUBLIC.
