Save Our San Jacinto Plaza Christmas Holiday Tree

The Issue

The City of El Paso plans to cut down our beautiful Mondel Pine as part of the "remodeling" of San Jacinto Plaza in downtown El Paso. The pine is 37 years old and can be expected to live another 30 plus years. Christmas after Christmas it has been the official El Paso Christmas Holiday Tree. The lighting of this tree has brought joy to generations of El Pasoans. Now, in defiance of city ordinances, the Mayor, City Council and City Manager plan to destroy it. Already contrary to ordinance, the City removed the large California Fan Palms, giving them to the contractor without even involving the City Arborist. Now they want to destroy our beautiful holiday tree. Urge all of them to obey city ordinances and stop this madness.
