There are 723 registered dogs in the Town of Braintree as of June 2020 and the amazing citizens of this 380-year-old town do not have a safe and legal daycare or park that allows our furbabies to socialize and play freely with other dogs. This does not include the hundreds of other dog owners who commute into Braintree from surrounding towns that own K9’s who are forced to leave them at home unattended or use alternative businesses in other neighborhoods.
 
The current bylaws of Braintree do not allow for a dog daycare to open and there is not a rational reason why! Every other town on the South Shore has at least one dog daycare open to serve its community. In the past year, the Planning Board was in the process of rewriting the bylaws to allow for this type of business to open, however they abandoned the process which included other town matters, including rezoning. We must urge them to take action and improve our community and allow dog daycare in Braintree!
 
From adorable puppies that loving families have recently brought home to active high-energy teenage dogs to our most loyal senior dogs that need special care, it is the responsibility of all dog owners and those who care about the welfare of “man’s best friend” to sign this petition urging Mayor Charles Kokoros, the Planning & Community Development Office and the Town of Braintree to make a positive change in our community!
 
By having a safe, fun and engaging daycare for dogs, led by an expert and caring staff the lives of our dogs and our personal lives will be enhanced with well-rounded dogs at home. Providing an enrichment program for dogs to exercise and socialize will make our furbabies happier, healthier, and more relaxed in our homes.
