Buffalo Constituents Want a Mayoral Debate NOW!

Current mayor of Buffalo, NY, Byron Brown has refused to debate democratic challengers, India Walton and LaCandice Durham. The people of this city WANT to see a debate. The primary election is June 22 and we are running out of time. This is *not* what democracy looks like. Constituents deserve to see and hear for themselves the candidates speak on the issues so that they can make an informed decision for the primary. Mayor Byron Brown has been mayor for 15 years and has debated other challengers. Why not this year?
excerpt taken from the Buffalo News article June 3, 2021: "Mayor Brown has always welcomed the opportunity to publicly discuss the issues that are important to the residents of the City of Buffalo," the statement said. "It is what he does every day. Ms. Walton's mischaracterizations notwithstanding, Mayor Brown has always been forthcoming and transparent on where he stands on every issue, ensuring that the public can fairly and objectively decide for themselves who best represents all of the members of our community."
Why not debate in a public forum then?
Excerpt from June 6, 2021 Buffalo News article: “We look to the GOP as guilty of voter suppression, but this is just an injustice,” she said. “I’m not a career politician and have ideas that vary from what he stands for.” -India Walton
The people of Buffalo, NY deserve better. We want a debate and we want it now.
