Hello!

The petition has officially been submitted to City Hall as of today. I originally attempted to submit the petition at the Feb 5th Protection, Community Services and Parks SPC meeting. This required the Councillors on that committee to vote to allow me to speak, and it was a split 2-2 vote, which meant a failed motion and so I was unable to speak or submit the petition. For those who are curious, Councillors Rollins and Eadie voted to allow me to speak, and Councillors Orlikow and Santos voted against.

Today the petition was delivered in person by representatives from Budget for All and Cupe 500 along with community members. I was unable to attend due to a work conflict.

The petition was also sent to the clerk today and will be submitted to the SPC on PCSP's special meeting on March 13, 2020. Copies will be provided  to the Committee, and included in the committee minutes as well.

Finally, I also emailed a letter I prepared to go with the petition and a screen shot showing the total number of signatures the petition received to each City Councillor and they Mayor via email late last night for their individual review.

My suggestion going forward is for each of you to pay close attention to how your City Councillor votes on this budget process going forward, and hold them accountable if their actions don’t align with what they express their values to be. My sense is that Councillors are conscious of when citizens are watching their actions closely and follow up with them on how they vote specifically.

Thank you all again for your support, sharing and comments.
