A 16 year old male named Dayante Washington died this past weekend in Wichita, Kansas, with police allegedly at the scene of the incident for two hours before finding Dayante's body. We do not believe the whole story is not being told. We also believe that it is possible the Wichita Police Department is lying to us. On November 28th, 2020, Dayante Washington was pronounced dead at 11:09 P.M. from what has been reported as a self inflicted gunshot wound to the temple. Police claim that the Major Crimes Reduction Team responded to the call at 6:57 P.M. to reports that Dayante Washington was currently in an apartment in the Park East Townhomes complex at the intersection of Woodlawn and Bayley. They report that after being allowed into the home and being told that Dayante was by himself in the attic they tried to negotiate with him for 2 hours before going into the attic to search for him. The police report that he was found dead with a self inflicted gunshot wound to the temple and the gun used to end his life laying next to the body. Many pieces of this story do not add up and the community of Wichita believes that the full body camera footage of the incident should be release as the police department has only played small clips from it to the public when they addressed the issue. More things surrounding the case are suspicious as there is no recorded mention of the creation or members of the Major Crimes Reduction Team. The police also had Captain Wendell Nicholson give the statement to the public, despite the fact that the incident did not occur within the patrols of his (the south) substation and he was never on scene. We are calling upon Mayor Brandon Whipple, District Attourney Marc Bennett, and Chief of Police Gordan Ramsay, to release the body camera footage from the incident and let Wichita know the whole truth.
