We the undersigned, petition the Wilmington City Council; Mayor Bill Saffo, Margaret Haynes, Neil Anderson, Clifford Barnett, Paul Lawler, Kevin O’Grady and Charles Rivenbark to take action concerning the confederate statues downtown, specifically the George Davis Monument and the Wilmington Confederate Monument. We respectfully request that the City Council;

1) formally declare by proclamation that these statues do not reflect the values of our community;

2) commit to moving the statues to a more appropriate location;

3) in light of the current N.C. law limiting such a removal, commitment to cover or restricted from view.
