Every day dozens of innocent, defenseless animals are killed for no other reason than that they ended up in the New York City Shelters, unwanted and unloved.  These are healthy, adoptable animals, most of which have passed temperament and health tests.  Once they are brought in to the shelter these animals have only a few days to live.  The only reason given is because the shelters are "full".  Many other shelters across the country use foster homes to house the animals they can not place right away.  There is no reason that New York can't do the same thing.  They just don't seem to want to be bothered with finding foster homes.  They'd rather continue the slaughter of these sweet animals that have committed no other crime than to end up as a stray or to be thrown away like trash by their previous owners.  It's time to stop the slaughter and stand up for the innocent.  These animals have no voice of their own so they depend on yours to help them.  Please sign and share this petition with everyone you know, even if they don't live in New York city!  These animals need our help!  Lets finally end the unnecessary slaughter!
