Initiate changes towards making NYC shelters "NO Kill"

The Issue

Animals die every day in the shelters of New York City and it's time this stopped. New York should be leading the way in animal treatment and advocacy not lagging far behind. Even though the Mayor promised in his campaign that something would be done to address this daily tragedy; he hasn't made good on his promises.

I am asking that you join the numerous and growing number of people that have had enough of the killing and want change. I am asking Canadians to sign the petition indicating that:

"We, the residents of British Columbia, Canada will boycott New York City as a vacation destination until the Killing at ACC is stopped."

Most of the animals that are killed on a daily basis come from homes; are young (a lot are two or under); are adoptable; and have a lot of public interest in them. All of the animals that are on the To Be Destroyed list have monetary pledges for them and often just need more time for the members of public or rescues to pull them.

Once an animal makes it on the To Be Destroyed list they only have hours to be pulled and saved. The list gets posted at 6 pm for the following day when the killing starts at noon. That is only 18 hours and only 6 hours that the shelters are actually open for business. What ensues is chaos and mistakes happen. A dog with an approved adopter was recently put down by mistake. The family found out when they went to pick him up. Recently the shelters computers went down and consequently more dogs were euthanized that day.

If you want more information on this please go to facebook and check out Urgent Death Row Dogs or Urgent Death Row Cats. You can also check out the Mayors Facebook page as well.

The animals really need your help and your signature.

Thank You!
