The Narberth Basketball Courts are a vital source of exercise for many young men and woman living in Narberth. For nearly four months the basketball courts have been closed due to the pandemic. Mental health professionals often talk about the importance of exercise and how it can improve mental health in troubling times, such as the pandemic. In recent weeks the reopening effort in areas near or around Narberth is apparent. Areas such as Center City, Philadelphia, Wayne, King of Prussia, Ardmore and others have all began reopening businesses; restaurants with outdoor seating, haircutters, malls, gyms, offices, and most important for this arguments sake, parks and basketball courts. Funnily enough all of these areas were "hit harder" by the COVID-19 pandemic than Narberth yet they have reopened faster. There is no logical reason that the areas around Narberth have opened their parks and basketball courts while Narberth hasn't. I have email the Mayor of Narberth (Andrea Deutsch) and she said they will not be reopening the basketball courts due to the COVID-19 risk. I believe that Narberth Park and courts should be reopened effective immediately with certain safety guidelines in effect. These guidelines are listen below 

GUIDELINES 

1. Games should be take place between close friends and not strangers to reduce contamination. 

2. No more than 8 people on a court playing at once. 

3. Understand that you are putting yourself at risk by playing on the courts (even though going to and outside restaurant and eating near people is just as dangerous) 

4. Wear a mask while playing / shooting around 

5. Narberth Police and Lower Merion Police should enforce these rules. They have the resources... $21 million dollars are given annually to the police from Lower Merion and Narberth tax payers.
