We have heard whispers about “The Powerhouse Gym” in District 8 being closed. We know things change, however it is our duty to protect such important institutions in underserved communities. Transportation and affordability is a real issue for many in our city when it comes to extracurricular activities such as working out. This site is accessible to many who would have no other way of taking care of their health, especially our Elders. We cannot allow a community pillar to be lost to Zoo expansion or any other excuse. The city must make proper investments in community infrastructure. We need answers confirming if the city is indeed intending to close the facility, will the equipment be moved to another building that is accessible to the community, is the plan to sell the building, is the facility not generating enough money etc. Please help me in maintaining a facility that has served the community with excellency for 30 years. Y’all know my motto, “Don’t complain, fight back”
