Maybelline: Stop Animal Testing!

100 million, that's 100,000,000, animals, such as rabbits, mice, dogs, cats, monkeys, fish, and hamsters die each year because of animal testing.
It may come as a shock to many, but Maybelline, a popular cosmetics brand, continues to test their products on animals. The Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act does not require animal tests to be performed to prove a cosmetic item is safe.
Although it is unclear what types of testing Maybelline does, some common types include...
- skin and eye irritation tests in which chemicals are rubbed on shaved skin and dripped in eyes of rabbits. The rabbits have no pain relief and often suffer severe chemical burns on both their skin and their corneas.
- force-feeding studies that can last several months to test health hazards
- "lethal dose" tests where animals are forced to ingest chemicals to see how much it takes to kill them
Makeup is great... unless it's being tested on poor helpless animals. Animals can't stand up for themselves, but we certainly can! Join me to help petition Maybelline to stop animal testing.
