Dear Maybelline and other cosmetic shops whom this may be a concern, 

It’s incredibly alarming and inadequate to know of the realities of animal testing in today's society. It's archaic, it's inhumane, and it's simply unacceptable.

Each year in the U.S. alone more than 100 million animals are being killed in laborites due to cosmetic testing; these animals include mice, rats, dogs, cats, rabbits, hamsters, guinea pigs and monkeys. These animals are being involuntary used as lab experiments to test if cosmetic product produces any sort of reaction. They are being abused and trapped in cages where they wait to be tortured and eventually killed all in the name of beauty.

These cosmetic products consume chemicals that are being rubbed on shaved skin and some are being held down while products are being dropped onto the eyes of these helpless animals, where these tests can last weeks or months so researchers can look for signs of general illness or specific health hazards. All of this is happening without any pain relief! The FDA does not regulate any sort of animal testing that is done on animals; hence the cruel and inhumane ways animals are being tested on.

Cosmetic brands continue to test on animals even though it’s been proven that the potential reactions of animals could be completely unrelated to humans, and the National Institutes of Health (taxpayers money) used $19.6 billion to fund cruel and useless experiments on animals!

I have three dogs, and I couldn’t begin to imagine the kind of torture they’d be going through if they were to be tested on! If we aren’t going to test on humans, who have their own voice, why would we test on animals, who don’t have a voice for themselves? Why conflict pain and suffering to these helpless creatures when there are other more effective ways to test a product, such as human cell-based tests and sophisticated computer models that have been proven to be less expensive and more effective!
