Animal Cruelty: stop testing makeup on animals

It has come to my attention recently that this company is still testing all makeup products on animals. I would like to attempt to stop this act and help you realize what you are doing to animals across the world and how this process is not helping anyone or anything. Humane Society International (2017) states that “approximately 100,000-200,000 animals suffer and die for cosmetics every year around the world.” (n.p). If one by one, companies stop testing products on animals, think about all the lives that would be saved. I am starting with you, Maybelline.
There are many ingredients that have long histories of being safe for human use. If you were able to stick with these chemicals and ingredients, there would be no need to test on animals. I am aware that it is a priority to come up with new and better products for people to purchase, which is how you make profit. I am also aware that Humane Society International (2017) also states, “there are a number of skin tests available that use human reconstructed skin” that doesn't require testing products on animals. If you would realize that you can in fact create new products that are cruelty free, why wouldn't you take advantage of that?
I am aware of many other successful companies that do not test on animals. They are 100% cruelty free and make much profit off of their products. They are also highly praised on social media because of what they do. e.l.f, one of the most purchased drugstore makeup brands, is 100 percent cruelty free. They are partners with PETA and the Humane Society. If you are in competition with other drugstore makeup, wouldn’t you want to appeal to everyone rather than just people who don't care about animal testing?
There are many different ways to stop the testing of animals and I am hoping you can see where I'm coming from. I am one small human being, writing to an international company, in hopes to stop this process. I hope you can start making small changes and make this world a better place. If you agree to stop, think about what other companies may follow in your footsteps. I am attaching a petition that I will fill and send back with signatures for you to stop doing this. I hope that once you see how many people agree and want this to stop, you will take action. Thank you for your consideration and cooperation.
