Helping the Sun Bears Be Reintroduced into the Wild

Meet the Sun Bear, one of the most incredible creatures in the world. The Sun Bear is one of the smallest bears, at around four and a half feet long and weighing up to 100 pounds. They have short black fur with an orange horseshoe shape of color on their chest. A sun bear's diet consists of lizards, little birds, rodents, insects, termites, fruit and honey. Basically, small animals and berries. Because of this, it is an omnivore.
Sadly, it is going extinct, and we need to help save it. If everyone reading this donated $3 to help them through Sun Bear Outreach.org, we would have enough money to reintroduce them into the wild. My plan to help the Sun Bears has three stages:
- Stage 1- Restrictions- By 2020
Restrictions are placed on the bears so that they cannot be hunted to extinction. We start with CITIES and see what they will do to help.
- Stage 2- Removal- By 2030
We recover as many bears from the wild as we can, and raise them in semi-captivity; aka we can put living prey in and let them catch and kill it instead of feeding them already dead food. In any case, we make sure that we get their numbers back up a decent amount, or until their habitat is recovered and regrown.
- Stage 3- Recovery- By 2040 or 2050
The sun bears are released back into the wild with restrictions from hunting them and a huge fine if one is injured or killed.
With this plan, we can get the sun bears back into the wild in around 30 years. If a species ever goes extinct, it is a huge loss for the entire ecosystem, and may affect other species closely related to it- if it is it's prey, the numbers will increase, and for their predators, their numbers will decrease. Therefore, either way, the sun bears would negatively impact the ecosystem were they to go extinct. We need to help their numbers recovery.
If everyone who was reading this right now signed this petition, this plan would be put into action! We must act now, before it's too late to help the sun bears!
