You may have seen on the news or other programmes the threat of fire caused by faulty tumble dryers manufactured by Hotpoint. Other brands under this umbrella are Indisit and Creda. At first the manufacturer decided to keep this quiet. As people discovered they were affected by this risk they contacted the helplines. Some people have been advised they will have to wait up to 8 months, but they can still use the appliance if it is cleaned properly and if it is not left unattended. To date there have been 2 very serious incidents involving tumble dryers, one family home has burnt down and the other resulted in death. Speculation that a faulty dryer was involved. Despite calls, FaceBook messages and tweets, we the customers feel that we aren't getting anywhere. Therefore as customers of the following manufacturers we demand the following: * If a machine has been modified the manufacturer must guarantee its safety * If a machine cannot be guaranteed as safe it must be replaced at no cost to the customer or a full refund offered to the customer in order to purchase an alternative brand * Customers that have an appliance that is still within warranty have their machine replaced at no charge * Replacements must be to the same spec as the machine that is being replaced * All customers must be contacted within a set period of time.
