Maui has an ever-increasing chicken overpopulation problem.

Del's Farm Supply continues, year after year,  to act irresponsibly by importing newly-hatched chicks from the Mainland to sell to the public, despite the fact that Maui is overrun with feral chickens.  Del's Farm Supply sells approximately 300 chickens a week for 10 weeks during the Spring.

Customers who later decide to "get rid of" their chickens purchased at Del's commonly abandon them in neighborhoods, parks, and shopping centers. These discarded chickens breed and continue to multiply. 

Sanctuaries on Maui are full beyond capacity with rescued chickens and continue to receive calls daily for requests to accept more.

A ban on the import of chickens for commercial sale in Maui County is needed now.
