The Issue

My son Matthew died following an assault on the 11 th June 2023  the murder enquiry is ongoing .The worst thing about losing Matthew in such horrific circumstances was that he was left alone on a busy well lit main road for over an hour. No one holding his hand as he died. No one comforting him  . We know if help had been sought he would have survived My family and I have completed vigils covering the time he was left  there were hundreds of cars  dozens of people walking by yet no one stops to help not one of the group of people that were believed to be present during the assault were brave enough to call for help annomyously Not One !! This country talks about moral duty to seek help but there is no law stating you should stop  other countries have this why not us . We are supposed to be a civilised country !! I want to bring in Matthews Law. " You can't do nothing you must do something" Matthew still has no justice. His little boy has no daddy and I am a broken woman that misses Matthew so much but also the person I used to be  Please Please Please support my petition let's get this signed and insist that the government takes this seriously

In other countries, such as France and Spain there is a duty to rescue others. In France, under Article 223-6, those who fail to assist a person in danger is liable within the criminal courts and can be held accountable. In Spain, under Article 195, it is a criminal offence for a citizen to fail to provide or seek help to anyone in need so long as it does not endanger them. We think a duty to rescue should be enacted into the English and Welsh legal system.
