The news is that there is no news! Parliament has been dissolved so no petitions will be dealt with till after the election. My local MP, Ben Wallace, has responded to my letter with assurances that there is a ten year plan to deal with the issue of waste but the Health Secretary has yet to respond. I have written again by email to Mr Wallace, Matt Hancock and Nadine Dorries but there will be no response for some months now. I have said in my email that the public would be able to do a lot more to help if they were made aware of the situation regarding wasteage and what they could do to reduce it. Even if the savings are modest in the grand scheme of the vast funds spent on the NHS the old saying 'mind the pennies and the pounds will look after themselves' has a lot of wisdom in it. In the meantime I will keep on collecting signatures and would urge everyone who has signed so far to do their best to enlist friends and relatives to give more weight to this petition.
