Dear Mattel,

The first Silkstone® Barbie® was introduced in the year 2000.  In 2002, the African American version debuted.  A year later, in 2003, the first Silkstone® male of Eurocentric descent followed.   Throughout the past 16 years, the Silkstone® line has included several Caucasian Barbie® and Ken® dolls and a handful of African American Barbies®.  Unfortunately, not one African American/Black male has been produced; not one. 

We, the undersigned Barbie® collectors and specifically collectors of Silkstone® Barbie® petition you to create a long overdue African American Silkstone® male.  The Caucasian doll has her companion, but the African American doll has yet to have a companion produced. 

A survey on the Barbie® bulletin board was created well over five years ago which offered a tremendous amount of support from collectors all over the world who desire Black Silkstone® males.  The popular Silkstone® line remains incomplete without full gender and ethnic diversity.  

Mattel, please listen to the needs of those who support your Barbie® products and create an African American/Black Silkstone® male for the global market, bearing in mind that many collectors will purchase multiples.  Keeping Barbie® collectors and consumers happy is a win-win situation for your company as well as for those who have supported the various Barbie® lines throughout the past nearly six decades.  Collectors are impatiently waiting, and we thank you in advance for following through.
