Diversity in skin tones, characters and fashion quality for barbie dolls

Diversity in skin tones, characters and fashion quality for barbie dolls

The Issue

A lot of Barbie consumers are adult collectors who are disappointed with the quality of the current fashions as well as the lack of diversity it offers in face sculpts and skin tones; primarily in the Fashionista line. Having articulated dolls that offer multiple poses is fun, but the range in skin tones and sculpts are unsatisfying, What a lot of costumers would like to see is a return to the previous line of Fashion Fever dolls. The Fashion Fever line offered multiple face sculpts such as Teresa, Drew, Skipper, Christie, Lea and Kayla. Also, fantastic fashions that were reminiscent of the clothes of the time period and a wide range in skin tones. It would be great if we could get the same quality in the Fashionista line of dolls. Furthermore, there is a need in the Ken fashionista line too. A lot of consumers would like an AA fashionista Ken doll. Which leads to the next point of having full articulation Barbie and Ken dolls in the Fashionista doll line. On the recent clutch bag line. The barbie dolls lack the torso joint that they have had from the start and Ken dolls have no articulation in their knees. Now it is not fair for consumers to be paying the same amount of money for a product that is less than what's expected. We also understand that from a business perspective, the changes we are asking for would be costly. So we understand that an increment in cost would be fair for a product that contains better quality. Plus, it will benefit the brand and maintain Barbie as the leader in fashion dolls.
