I've only lived in Port Macquarie for a few years, but I only recently discovered the beauty that is Miners Beach! Unfortunately, this beautiful beach has a strong deterant for a lot of the public, as its occupants are often naked - which I don't think anyone wants to see. It's tough to find a beach properly suited for swimming, as most of the beaches can be quite rough (or too far away or difficult to access). Not only does seeing public nudity at Miners (or anywhere for that matter) make many people feel uncomfortable, but it also interrupts the much-loved coastal walk from Town Beach to Lightouse. Miners is considered an "unofficial" nude beach, but surely it would be fair to make it "nude free" on weekend or certain days of the week! Even thought it would be great, asking for complete "nude free" might be a tall order, and I'm sure the people that participate in stripping down in public would find that unfair. I'd be satisfied with even just one day over the weekend where people on the beach must keep their clothes on! By signing this petition we can show the Port Macquarie Hastings Council that the majority of the public would like some regulations at Minors Beach - as simple as having a set schedule of 'nude' and 'nude free' days! With a simple change, we can ALL enjoy Minors Beach.
