NHS funding for eye care stops at age 18 unless in full time education and according to the NHS being a university student doesn’t qualify as full time education despite being in classes up to 5 days a week.

We don't think students should be hit with the costs of eye tests and glasses until they at least have the opportunity to get a full time job, which is a struggle while studying.

If we don’t do anything about our eyes while we are young, they will get worse as we age, but with huge costs standing in the way, there is no incentive to get them sorted from a younger age.

A study from last November in the British Journal of Ophthalmology concluded that children these days have worse eyesight nowadays due to high amounts of screen-time they face while growing up. This is one of the biggest contributing factors of myopia (short-sightedness) yet our whole lives revolve around screens.

Your eyes stop changing and growing by the time you are 21 so it is vital that these problems are seen to before it is too late.
