Stop "cruel" Social Care Charges

Stop "cruel" Social Care Charges
The Issue
“Given that the Social Care Reform Green Paper remains unpublished, many years after it was promised. We call on Her Majesty’s Government to immediately suspend all Social Care Charges until the Green Paper has been published and any resulting legislation has been implemented”.
The rising cost and inadequate funding of providing Social Care, has resulted in many vulnerable disabled people being made to pay huge amounts toward their care. This has been described by some as a “tax on disability”. This is causing many people financial hardship. Resulting, in some cases, reduced life chances, the risk of social isolation, stress and anxiety. All of which is impacting their physical and mental health and wellbeing.
It is also bringing Service Users and those who support them, into conflict with their Local Authorities, at a point that they should be working together to achieve the best possible outcomes for this very vulnerable group of people.
