Matt Hancock needs to change the emphasis of the NHS away from Covid 19 and here is just one reason  ..so far globally Covid 19 has killed just less than 1Million people .. shocking right ? Yes it is .. but what is also shocking is that Globally each year, deaths associated with mental illness number more than 8million .. 8 million each year and we are hiding from a virus that may or may not infect us or may or may not kill us yet 8Million people worldwide lose their lives each year due to mental illness . In the UK the emphasis of the NHS has been to treat Covid 19 under the instruction of Matt Hancock the man in charge of the NHS and as a result treatments for other conditions including mental illness have been cancelled. The cancellation of such treatments or consultations have been catastrophic for some.  In August this year Rebecca Brooks took her own life due to mental illness she was only 34 .. she had a history of mental illness and had sadly attempted this before ..something her doctor and the NHS were very aware of . Prior to the pandemic taking hold she had reached out to her doctor and the NHS for help .. it took a lot for her to do this .. like so many people when this pandemic hit she was forgotten and her incredibly important appointment was cancelled and replaced with the promise of a phone call some six months later .. so a woman who had a history of mental illness culminating in a previous suicide attempt who had reached out for help was quite simply ignored ..sadly for Rebecca the promise of a telephone appointment in the future was too late .. and we who knew her and loved her have to live with the loss of a beautiful young woman .. why are we allowing this to happen?  .. why are we just sitting idly by whilst so many people like Rebecca lose their lives each year?  Over 800,000 each year due to depression according to WHO (World Health Organisation)  .. the very same organisation who have changed our lives over Covid 19 a virus that has killed less than 1Million globally this year ..just this year ..not almost a million EVERY year like depression .. Matt Hancock needs to hear the voice of those that live with or have lost someone from mental illness ..he needs to know the pain of watching a loved one suffer or the real pain experienced from losing that life .. a life that could have been saved with just one appointment not being cancelled .. he needs to change his focus back to the millions who suffer from conditions other than Covid 19...please sign this petition and let’s get help to all of the Rebecca’s in the UK so that no more families and loved ones have to lose people they hold so dear ..
