NURSING STUDENTS' LIVES MATTER TOO!

The Issue

Currently, under H.E.E. regulations. NHS staff and volunteers are insured if they die of Covid-19 but nursing students are not.

Nursing students HAVE to complete several UNPAID placements during their training in order to qualify. They are not only unpaid for this, but are actually paying for the privilege. Under Covid-19 restrictions, whilst on placement, they cannot work elsewhere to support themselves financially whilst on placement. As there are no bursaries at all for those in their 2nd and 3rd years, students are struggling hugely financially.

To be told that their lives do not matter and there will be no financial recompense if they die in the line of unpaid duty is the last straw. Many of these students have young families.

These are YOUR future nurses. PLEASE support them.
