Cannabis is currently a class B drug, giving it a maximum 5 year sentence for possession and 15 for supply. It is simply ludicrous that a plant that has proven scientific benefits such as the aiding of cancer victims, and the treatment of mental health problems, is illegal. 

Furthermore, the majority of our own MPs support the use of medicinal marijuana, with 60% of Labour and 55% of the Conservatives. If medicinal cannabis has such strong support within the UK then why is it still illegal?

The research has been conducted and yet still people are adamant to prohibit this medicine, meaning innocent people are committing crimes and lining the pockets of criminals to aid themselves. This is a severe injustice to the British people who pay for the very healthcare they are denied.

The medicinal cannabis industry has been estimated to bring in anywhere from seven hundred and fifty million pounds to one billion. In such economic uncertainty it is clear that this would truly benefit the United Kingdom.
