Close The Range!! (COVID-19)

0 have signed. Let’s get to 25,000!

THIS PETITION IS FOR THE RANGE TO CLOSE DURING THIS PANDEMIC AND TO PUT ITS STAFF FIRST ! SIGNING UP TO THE GOVERNMENT SCHEME WHERE THEY WILL PAY UPTO 80% OF ALL STAFFS WAGES !!

The Range I quote ‘Everything for your home, leisure, and garden - at The Range. Furniture, bedding, toys, hobbies, crafts and more.’

However during this scary time with Covid-19 the owner has made it increasingly difficult for his staff to stay home.

Has has not signed up to the government backed scheme where they will pay upto 80% of employees wages but instead recently installed refrigerators in the store so it can be classed as a ‘mini mart’ and not have to close !!!

no regard for his staffs health and safety !! It is not imperative for them to be at work ! We have our actual supermarkets to supply us with food ! We do not need the range to stay open for the likes of a couple of packets of ham !

They may just be ‘staff’ to him but they’re family to us and should be able to be at home with their families in this time !

Whilst the rest of the UK is doing their bit , closing businesses big and small , taking financial hit to ensure the safety of us all they deem themselves ‘essential’ and have no regard for their staffs health and safety !
It’s all about money !!

Support for businesses through the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme
Under the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme, all UK employers will be able to access support to continue paying part of their employees’ salary for those employees that would otherwise have been laid off during this crisis.

Eligibility
All UK businesses are eligible.

How to access the scheme
You will need to:

designate affected employees as ‘furloughed workers,’ and notify your employees of this change - changing the status of employees remains subject to existing employment law and, depending on the employment contract, may be subject to negotiation
submit information to HMRC about the employees that have been furloughed and their earnings through a new online portal (HMRC will set out further details on the information required)
HMRC will reimburse 80% of furloughed workers wage costs, up to a cap of £2,500 per month. HMRC are working urgently to set up a system for reimbursement. Existing systems are not set up to facilitate payments to employers.

If your business needs short term cash flow support, you may be eligible for a Coronavirus Business Interruption Loan.
