As citizens of the Matanuska-Susitna Borough, we want protection for our family pets and children on school property and the most popular suburban trails and recreation areas. Times have changed and trapping is no longer acceptable in these areas.

In particular, we would like to make trap-free the following suburban areas owned by the Borough: Crevasse Moraine, Government Peak Recreation Area, Matanuska River Park, Bodenberg Butte, Lazy Mountain Recreation Area, and Alcantra Park.

Some of us have had the misfortune of having our dogs killed or maimed in traps. All of us fear that our family pets could suffer the same fate.

We ask the Mat-Su Borough assembly to pass an ordinance to make suburban Borough parks and trails trap-free.
