Emely Nieves was a mother from Lowell Massachusetts. She died of blunt force trauma to the head May 26 2020. She was consistently abused physically and emotionally by her boyfriend Devonte Degree and his mother Tina Degree. Emely was abused before, during and after her pregnancy with their son. Devonte beat her so badly she was unable to care for her son due to her injuries. Tina Degree was arrested for beating another woman Devonte got pregnant, with a tire iron and closed fist punches.

Devonte repeatedly told Emely he would kill her. On the night of May 25th 2020 Devonte and Em got into a fight and Tina kicked Devonte out. When Tina woke up 5 hours later Emely was dead. Tina then called AT LEAST 3 other people before calling 911. She then lied saying Emely choked on her vomit before changing her story after the death certificate came out saying Em “maybe hit her head”. Tina started a fraudulent GoFundMe and never gave any of the money to Emely’s family. 

Despite all of this both Tina and Devonte have NOT been arrested/investigated. Lowell Police doesn’t investigate and local media won’t pick it up. Emely’s known abuser is raising her son.
