END THE INHUMANE TREATMENT OF ANIMALS @ SMITHFIELD FARM

Dear decision makers : MSPCA, MASS. Board of Health, Falmouth Board of Health, Massachusetts State House,
Smithfield Farm, owned and operated by Janice Foster, has been in and out of the public eye for the last several years. As time has gone on, the decline in the health, safety, and wellbeing of the animals, as well as the structural integrity of the facility itself have drastically and rapidly declined. In recent years, there have been countless reports of neglect and abuse filed with both state and local officials including the MSPCA and Falmouth Board of Health. These complaints stated that emaciated animals were living in their own feces with no access to food, clean water, and in some cases, shelter.
An investigation was launched back in 2019 after photos of emaciated horses surfaced. The photos caught media attention from many news sources including but not limited to CBS Boston and WBZ TV. In January of this year, a horse owned by Janice Foster was struck and killed on Sandwich Rd. More recently the Board of Health did a surprise inspection of the facility and found that the horses had been standing inside in their feces with no water available to them. The immediate concern is with the safety and well-being of the horses, and any other animals that remain on the property.
We are starting this petition to gain awareness, and to ultimately ask the state and local officials to shut down Smithfield Farm. We must put an end to the suffering of the animals.
