Restore passenger rail to Palmer, Massachusetts!

Restore passenger rail to Palmer, Massachusetts!
The Issue
Palmer, Massachusetts is known as the Town of Seven Railroads. But, sadly, no passenger trains have stopped here for many years. That is about to change, after 8 years of advocacy.
In July 2023 MassDOT’s FY2024-FY2028 Capital Investment Plan (CIP) included $4 million for the study and design of Palmer station with the work to be done in FY2024-25 (July 2023 through June 2025).
Amtrak plans to run two daily round-trip trains on the Inland Route between Boston, Springfield and New Haven. MassDOT has applied to the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA), requesting designation of a Boston--Albany corridor train service as well.
The Palmer stop should be located where we need it most--at the "diamond junction" of the east-west and north-south tracks, in the heart of the Depot Village business district.
The economic and tourism benefit of a rail stop will help revive our community, a former manufacturing center, and the towns of the surrounding Quaboag Valley region.
The Palmer station would also serve students from UMass Amherst, initially connected via PVTA/Five Colleges bus service, and in future via train service on the restored Central Corridor Rail Line. See A2B Campaign.
Please sign our petition to keep MassDOT on track as it develops fast, frequent east-west rail service with a stop in Palmer!
