Restore passenger rail to Palmer, Massachusetts!

Palmer, MA is known as the Town of Seven Railroads. But, sadly, no passenger trains have made a stop here for many years. Now, at last, the Massachusetts DOT is considering a project called the Northern New England Intercity Rail Initiative, which includes a station stop for Palmer. We need to make sure this happens, and that they put the stop where we need it most--in our historic downtown. The economic and tourist benefit of a rail stop will help revive our community, a former manufacturing center, and the surrounding region. The proposed line would run from Boston to Springfield, and then to New Haven and Montreal. If properly sited, the Palmer station would also one day link the Central Corridor Rail Line from New London to Brattleboro, when it is restored. The final report for this initiative was released in June 2016. We must act now to insure that the plan is implemented.
