Restore passenger rail to Palmer, Massachusetts!

0 have signed. Let’s get to 1,000!

Palmer, MA is known as the Town of Seven Railroads. But, sadly, no passenger trains have made a stop here for many years. From December 2018 to January 2020 the Massachusetts DOT is studying the feasibility of east-west passenger rail service between Western Mass and Boston. In June 2016 the Northern New England Intercity Rail Initiative recommended 8 round-trip trains per day between Boston and New Haven, and one round-trip train per day between Boston and Montreal, all stopping in Palmer. We need to make sure this happens, and that the stop is where we need it most--in our historic downtown. The economic and tourist benefit of a rail stop will help revive our community, a former manufacturing center, and the surrounding Quaboag region. If properly sited, the Palmer station would also one day link the Central Corridor Rail Line from New London to Brattleboro, when it is restored. Sign our petition to tell MassDOT, Governor Charlie Baker, and the legislature that we want fast, frequent east-west rail service with a stop in Palmer!
