Kevin McDonald started this petition to Marymount University and

My name is Kevin McDonald.  I am a recent graduate of Marymount University and still have many close friends who are still attending and/or working at the university.

Over the past few years, doubts have started to arise regarding Marymount's financial health.  With the new "Student Housing Update For Fall 2022" that was sent out today, it is apparent there are issues and the school plans to use the funding of students to make up for their ineptitude.

Aside from the blatant money-grab that this new policy is, it puts current undergraduate students in a tough place.  Many students who are currently living off-campus are under leases that will not end when this policy is enacted.  This makes students have to choose between breaking their lease or breaking university policy.  Aside from current leases, the pricing of Marymount's on-campus housing is barely competitive, with many options in the community being cheaper or offering more for a similar price.

One of the main aspects of college is to help students transition into adulthood, a stage in life when most will have to rent their own apartments or homes.  To force students to wait to gain this experience until they have completed their four years of undergraduate studies is absurd.

It is mine and many others hopes that this petition will result in the rescinding of the Student Housing Update For Fall 2022, and that Marymount will undergo an audit in order to alleviate the financial burdens that the school is currently facing.
