Bill Burton Fishing Pier is a fun and safe place to go fishing located just off of route 50 over the Choptank River in Cambridge MD. 

I remember as a kid with my friends our dads would take us there to go fishing at night a few times a summer and it was a blast. It’s a totally different experience being able to fish at night over such a large body of water. 

A few years back, Maryland, Department of Natural Resources made a statement saying they were going to close the pier at night and take down the overhead lights so that they can replace the lights with new energy saving LEDs. 
A month or two go by and they sent out another statement saying that they no longer had the funding to replace the lights on the pier after they had already taken down the old ones, thus meaning the pier would be closed at night indefinitely. 

I’m starting this petition to try and get some lights put back on the pier so that one day when my kids are old enough, they too can experience the adventure and excitement that took place here many years ago!

Maryland DNR closed the Bill Burton Fishing Pier in the Bill Burton Fishing Pier State Park.  The pier is getting new lights and needs to be closed for roughly 2 weeks for the replacement work.  Both sides are closed.  From the website …   “Alert – 9/26/2018: Effective immediately, the Bill Burton Fishing Pier will be closed to the public until further notice for maintenance. The trails and parking lot next to the office will remain open. Details will follow. ”
