The stretch of Belair Road from Reckord Road to Mountain Road (Route 152) is a dangerous area of road where there has been an uptick in car accidents. Due to new businesses and housing in this area, more people travel this section, and there have been more accidents. For example, on 10/30/2021, a collision resulting in a fire caused two people to be transported by air in critical condition. The week prior, an accident happened in front of Log Cabin candies that resulted in an overturned vehicle. Despite numerous petitions by residents of the area to the Maryland State Highway Administration, nothing has changed as they have deemed the area safe enough based on a study they conducted which found there weren’t enough fatalities to warrant a light or turn lane. One fatality is enough to warrant change, one accident is enough, one time turning left out of Reckord Road is enough. Enough is enough - let’s fix this stretch of road before it’s too late.
